From 289e2905c82fc37f8b82b088bb823742aad4bb68 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Tom Lane Date: Wed, 21 Oct 2009 20:22:38 +0000 Subject: [PATCH] Remove add_missing_from GUC and associated parser support for "implicit RTEs". Per recent discussion, add_missing_from has been deprecated for long enough to consider removing, and it's getting in the way of planned parser refactoring. The system now always behaves as though add_missing_from were OFF. --- doc/src/sgml/config.sgml | 33 +----- doc/src/sgml/queries.sgml | 22 +--- doc/src/sgml/ref/select.sgml | 9 +- doc/src/sgml/ref/show.sgml | 15 ++- src/backend/parser/parse_expr.c | 17 ++- src/backend/parser/parse_relation.c | 109 ++++-------------- src/backend/parser/parse_target.c | 10 +- src/backend/utils/misc/guc.c | 11 +- src/backend/utils/misc/postgresql.conf.sample | 1 - src/include/parser/parse_node.h | 7 +- src/include/parser/parse_relation.h | 7 +- src/test/regress/expected/delete.out | 3 - src/test/regress/expected/rowtypes.out | 3 - src/test/regress/expected/update.out | 3 - src/test/regress/sql/delete.sql | 5 +- src/test/regress/sql/rowtypes.sql | 3 - src/test/regress/sql/update.sql | 3 - 17 files changed, 57 insertions(+), 204 deletions(-) diff --git a/doc/src/sgml/config.sgml b/doc/src/sgml/config.sgml index ed7a0df7ca..0e4cae8141 100644 --- a/doc/src/sgml/config.sgml +++ b/doc/src/sgml/config.sgml @@ -1,4 +1,4 @@ - + Server Configuration @@ -4659,37 +4659,6 @@ dynamic_library_path = 'C:\tools\postgresql;H:\my_project\lib;$libdir' - - add_missing_from (boolean) - FROMmissing - - add_missing_from configuration parameter - - - - When on, tables that are referenced by a query will be - automatically added to the FROM clause if not - already present.
