From 9445db925e78c2c4fb12067ad5618e2aecabe109 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Robert Haas Date: Fri, 4 Mar 2016 11:53:20 -0500 Subject: [PATCH] Fix query-based tab completion for multibyte characters. The existing code confuses the byte length of the string (which is relevant when passing it to pg_strncasecmp) with the character length of the string (which is relevant when it is used with the SQL substring function). Separate those two concepts. Report and patch by Kyotaro Horiguchi, reviewed by Thomas Munro and reviewed and further revised by me. --- src/bin/psql/tab-complete.c | 30 +++++++++++++++++++----------- 1 file changed, 19 insertions(+), 11 deletions(-) diff --git a/src/bin/psql/tab-complete.c b/src/bin/psql/tab-complete.c index 5f27120d83..6a81416ed1 100644 --- a/src/bin/psql/tab-complete.c +++ b/src/bin/psql/tab-complete.c @@ -3198,9 +3198,8 @@ static char * _complete_from_query(int is_schema_query, const char *text, int state) { static int list_index, - string_length; + byte_length; static PGresult *result = NULL; - /* * If this is the first time for this completion, we fetch a list of our * "things" from the backend. @@ -3211,9 +3210,18 @@ _complete_from_query(int is_schema_query, const char *text, int state) char *e_text; char *e_info_charp; char *e_info_charp2; + const char *pstr = text; + int char_length = 0; list_index = 0; - string_length = strlen(text); + byte_length = strlen(text); + + /* Count length as number of characters (not bytes), for passing to substring */ + while (*pstr) + { + char_length++; + pstr += PQmblen(pstr, pset.encoding); + } /* Free any prior result */ PQclear(result); @@ -3251,7 +3259,7 @@ _complete_from_query(int is_schema_query, const char *text, int state) completion_squery->selcondition); appendPQExpBuffer(&query_buffer, "substring(%s,1,%d)='%s'", completion_squery->result, - string_length, e_text); + char_length, e_text); appendPQExpBuffer(&query_buffer, " AND %s", completion_squery->viscondition); @@ -3278,13 +3286,13 @@ _complete_from_query(int is_schema_query, const char *text, int state) "SELECT pg_catalog.quote_ident(n.nspname) || '.'
