Neil Conway 87438cb90e Apply patch from Steven Singer for contrib/dbmirror. Changes:
-It fixes up some bugs with handling setval calls
-Adds upgrade instructions from prior versions
-Improved the sample config file
-Fixed some things in the clean_pending script

Bruce Momjian 51b363ec24 Please apply this patch to contrib/dbmirror
In incorperates changes from myself and a number of contributors.

This update to dbmirror provides:

-replication of sequence operations via setval/nextval
-DBMirror.pl support for logging to syslog
-changed the names of the tables to dbmirror_*  (no quotes required)
-Support for writitng SQL statements to files instead of directly to
 a slave database
-More options for DBMirror.pl in the config files.

Tom Lane f85f43dfb5 Backend support for autocommit removed, per recent discussions. The
only remnant of this failed experiment is that the server will take
SET AUTOCOMMIT TO ON.  Still TODO: provide some client-side autocommit
logic in libpq.

Bruce Momjian aa4c702eac Update /contrib for "autocommit TO 'on'".
Create objects in public schema.

Make spacing/capitalization consistent.

Remove transaction block use for object creation.

Remove unneeded function GRANTs.

Tom Lane b663f3443b Add a bunch of pseudo-types to replace the behavior formerly associated
with OPAQUE, as per recent pghackers discussion.  I still want to do some
more work on the 'cstring' pseudo-type, but I'm going to commit the bulk
of the changes now before the tree starts shifting under me ...
