33cb96ba1a Revert "Provide DLLEXPORT markers for C functions via PG_FUNCTION_INFO_V1 macro."
This reverts commit c8ead2a397.
Seems there is no way to do this that doesn't cause MSVC to give
warnings, so let's just go back to the way we've been doing it.

c8ead2a397 Provide DLLEXPORT markers for C functions via PG_FUNCTION_INFO_V1 macro.
Second try at the change originally made in commit 8518583cd;
this time with contrib updates so that manual extern declarations
are also marked with PGDLLEXPORT. The release notes should point
this out as a significant source-code change for extension authors,
since they'll have to make similar additions to avoid trouble on Windows.

09d8d110a6 Use FLEXIBLE_ARRAY_MEMBER in a bunch more places.
Replace some bogus "x[1]" declarations with "x[FLEXIBLE_ARRAY_MEMBER]".
Aside from being more self-documenting, this should help prevent bogus
warnings from static code analyzers and perhaps compiler misoptimizations.

This patch is just a down payment on eliminating the whole problem, but
it gets rid of a lot of easy-to-fix cases.

Note that the main problem with doing this is that one must no longer rely
on computing sizeof(the containing struct), since the result would be
compiler-dependent. Instead use offsetof(struct, lastfield). Autoconf
also warns against spelling that offsetof(struct, lastfield[0]).

Michael Paquier, review and additional fixes by me.

31400a6733 Predict integer overflow to avoid buffer overruns.
Several functions, mostly type input functions, calculated an allocation
size such that the calculation wrapped to a small positive value when
arguments implied a sufficiently-large requirement. Writes past the end
of the inadvertent small allocation followed shortly thereafter.
Coverity identified the path_in() vulnerability; code inspection led to
the rest. In passing, add check_stack_depth() to prevent stack overflow
in related functions.

Back-patch to 8.4 (all supported versions). The non-comment hstore
changes touch code that did not exist in 8.4, so that part stops at 9.0.

b8b2e3b2de Replace int2/int4 in C code with int16/int32
The latter was already the dominant use, and it's preferable because
in C the convention is that intXX means XX bits. Therefore, allowing
mixed use of int2, int4, int8, int16, int32 is obviously confusing.

Remove the typedefs for int2 and int4 for now. They don't seem to be
widely used outside of the PostgreSQL source tree, and the few uses
can probably be cleaned up by the time this ships.

f8c4d7db60 Restructure some header files a bit, in particular heapam.h, by removing some
unnecessary #include lines in it. Also, move some tuple routine prototypes and
macros to htup.h, which allows removal of heapam.h inclusion from some .c
files.

For this to work, a new header file access/sysattr.h needed to be created,
initially containing attribute numbers of system columns, for pg_dump usage.

While at it, make contrib ltree, intarray and hstore header files more
consistent with our header style.

224f91f66d Modify LOOPBYTE/LOOPBIT macros to be more logical; rather than have the
for() body passed as a parameter, make the macros act as simple headers
to code blocks.

This allows pgindent to be run on these files.

9f652d430f Fix up several contrib modules that were using varlena datatypes in not-so-obvious
ways. I'm not totally sure that I caught everything, but at least now they pass
their regression tests with VARSIZE/SET_VARSIZE defined to reverse byte order.

8e5a10d46c This patch makes the error message strings throughout the backend
more compliant with the error message style guide. In particular,
errdetail should begin with a capital letter and end with a period,
whereas errmsg should not. I also fixed a few related issues in
passing, such as fixing the repeated misspelling of "lexeme" in
contrib/tsearch2 (per Tom's suggestion).

33feb55c47 Replace bitwise looping with bytewise looping in hemdistsign and
sizebitvec of tsearch2, as well as identical code in several other
contrib modules. This provided about a 20X speedup in building a
large tsearch2 index ... didn't try to measure its effects for other
operations. Thanks to Stephan Vollmer for providing a test case.

1 intarray: bugfix for int[]-int[] operation
2 intarray: split _int.c to several files (_int.c now is unused)
3 ntarray (gist__intbig_ops opclass): use special type for index storage
4 ltree (gist__ltree_ops opclass), intarray (gist__intbig_ops): optimize
GiST's
penalty and picksplit interface functions, now use Hemming distance.

ltree_74.patch.gz - for current CVS
    Fix ~ operation bug: eg '1.1.1' ~ '*.1'
    Add ? operation
    Optimize index storage

Last change needs drop/create all ltree indexes, so only for 7.4
